Good morning dears!
We spent the night in the Radiophonic Workshop in Room 13, lost in the audible worlds of Delia Derbyshire….
What a wondrous place… And all the dreams that her music brought along...
Aldous Huxley once said: “After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music”.
Quite right, isn’t it?
These days, the weather forecast for London’s Delaware Road is very british - it will be raining cats and dogs! So we thought, we’d pack our things and head a bit further South.
But not enough with that we also do a fast-forward in time… Since we are in London, we decided to travel Harry Potter style. Please choose your mode of travelling: To apparate or more slowly on the broomstick?
Whatever you chose - our destination is the very NOW in a place called Reggio Emilia in Italy.
We have an appointment with two sound artists here.
Today, we meet with Giuseppe Cordaro and Riccardo Caspani! They both live in Reggio Emilia. They work as sound artists and sound sculptors - and they also do a lot of sound installations and sonorizations for festivals, exhibitions and theater plays.
And - last but not least- they are the audio curators of Ambient Radio!
But well - words don’t reach where music reaches … So how do you introduce sound artists? Of course by listening to them!
So for today, we want you to get lost in the sounds produced by Giuseppe and Riccardo… You find them on our playlist for Week One on Soundcloud!
(Delia is there too… And well - yes, it still smells strong also on our Ambient Radio’s spot on Soundcloud … Guess who? Pan is there as well (and he might Kill Bill!) :-)
But before we lose you to those nice tunes - let’s work!
Before we start working:
Important update!
For those of you who publish your sounds in Instagram - the crew will take care to put them into the sound library on drive... Makes it simpler isn't it? For those who are not on Instagram - drive is the place to be :-)
AND: Someone of the community had a super idea: We have Telegram Group now! A simple way to share recordings and at the same time meet the others! Here is your invite to it:
We are learning and experimenting - so let's see how Telegram works for us! But now, finally, here is what we are up to today:
Today's task is to record a very low and long lasting sound of something natural around you.
Please share your sound and an image (it can be a picture /drawing / film of the natural thing that produces todays sound) with us:
Post a film / recording (around 1 minute in length) with an image on Instagram using the #panshollowreed #ambientradio (like this, we find your work!) OR:
Upload your sounds on Google drive right here. Please give your track the following title: panshollowreed_yourname_yourplaceX (example: panshollowreed_delia_mountlykaion1). Like this we find your work for the weekly remix! >> Here you find some more instructions) OR:
Post an audiotrack on Telegram!
Have a lovely day!
Pan, Delia and all the Ambient Radio Crew!
