Good morning!
Did you have a relaxing day yesterday? Did you find your (inner) quiet?
Today, we completely change our approach and we go for the opposite of what we did yesterday!
“The wavering multitude is divided into opposite factions.”
So said Vigil. Or - if you prefer to say it with Niels Bohr:
Opposites are not contradictory but complementary.
And here we go!
Today we take you with us to noisy Rome… Close your eyes and imagine how might sound there, on a busy day in a busy street….
Can you still hear what we are saying?
Also Francesco Giannico went to Rome for a very special mission. He recorded the entire route of the “B” line of the subway in the city of Rome, that connects the “Rebibbia” station with the “Laurentina” station, and the “B1” line that connects the ‘Bologna’ station with the ‘Conca D ‘Oro’ station. Audio samples collected were manipulated and transformed electronically, and enriched with synth and/or musical instruments such as guitars, piano, violins. The result is “Metrophony” - not only a sound piece, but also an art installation.
Francesco tells more about it in the Ambient Radio Podcast!
So, by now, you might have understood what we are up to today. Instead of searching for quietness, we want to put our microphones and recorders on the busiest square in your town, or the busiest place in your house, the busiest spot of your street.
What does it sound like there?
Can you still hear us?

Again, we simply ask you to observe closely using your ears: Press start on your recorder, wait for one minute and press stop again.
From Start to Stop :-) Just as we did yesterday! As simple as a kiss!
Once you are happy with the result of your explorations - please do share it with us!
Please share your sound and an image with us:
Post a film / recording (around 1 minute in length) with an image on Instagram using the #startstopsound #ambientradio (like this, we find your work!) or
Also please upload your sounds on Google drive. Please give your track the following title: startstopsound_yourname_yourplace4. Like this we find your work for the weekly remix! or
Alternatively, drop an audiofile into our Telegram chat!
Ok, let’s get busy! And we are here to get loud!!
But before we say goodbye... Yesterday in all that quietness Lyudmila @seagull2101.1o1 met Pan again! And she created a lovely portrait of him in oil pastel! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Today maybe he rather will hide away from all the busy places....
Have a happy, busy day!
Love and kisses!
Pan, Delia and the whole Ambient Radio Crew
