Good morning dear Ears!

We can see from afar that you are still a bit in a dreamy mood… may that be from yesterday's quiet and dreamy soundscapes or just because of the early hour ….? To understand this - we have to move closer ….

Suvani Suri - our guest this week is also a great explorer of states of the mind and moods “in between”. What does that mean?

Think of that state between being awake and falling asleep… Between the real and the realm of the dream… Here and yet not here….

Sometimes, this might be a bit of a scary moment, an unsettling mood….

And this is what we are working on today:

Can you share those sounds that unsettle you with us? Sounds of unease, the eerie or the disquieting...

Last week, we went for the obviously scary - do you remember? But this time, let’s move closer and closer and observe with great care - we are not looking for the obvious horror movie scenario - but much more for that thin line where sounds make your hair rise and send a shiver down your spine….

Please share your sound and an image with us:

  • Post a film / recording (around 1 minute in length) with an image on Instagram using the #moodscapesound #ambientradio (like this, we find your work!) or:

  • Also please upload your sounds on Google drive. Please give your track the following title: moodscapesound_yourplace_yourname_4. Like this we find your work for the weekly remix! or

  • Alternatively, drop an audiofile into our Telegram chat!

But before we send you off to work, let’s explore another piece by Suvani Suri - our guest of this week! As she said in her interview with us - she likes to examine what is in between, what leaks, what is just next to regular… A puncture in listening maybe?

Her piece “Puncture the firsts of” was produced as part of an installation ‘Prelude to a Puncture in Listening’ (2018)* by sampling hypnagogic pop sounds of the early 2000s. An acoustic mosaic, a tessellation of sonic patterns and textures was interwoven with durational tricks and auditory illusions. The thought underscoring this was to explore the leaky edges of wakefulness and sleep as the echoes of one puncture into the kernel of the other. The dreamscape can be heard as an endless loop, a continuously mutating reflection, reproducing the hum of the question- is it not, in the dream, another reality, a reality that dreams us?

Now, we are leaving you to go out and explore sounds that puncture our feelings of well-being… Soundscapes that put us to unrest…

We are curious to hear what you hear!

Have a good day and hear you tomorrow for the last exercise of Season 2!

Love and Kisses, Pan, Delia and the whole Ambient Radio Crew
